About

My name is Erin Thomas. I am a teacher-librarian who has a garden in my library. I created this site as a final project while completing my Masters of Education in Sustainability, Creativity, and Innovation at Cape Breton University. I live, teach, and garden in Manitoba, Canada where I live in a century home with my English husband and two calico cats named Scout and Penny.

Teaching From the Garden is a resource site for teachers who are looking to establish a garden in their classroom. Here you will find set up information, pedagogy behind classroom gardens, and cross-curricular learning. The activities on this site are ones I’ve done in my own classroom or in the classroom of other teachers while co-teaching. You can reach me through the contact link at this site, or find me on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook under the handle @verdantpedagogy.
